Arsonist hits toilets

24/07/2008 5:46:00 PM
POLICE believe fires at two public toilet blocks in Redland Bay this week could have been lit by the same arsonist.

A toilet in the McWilliam Street Park at Point Talburpin was badly damaged in a blaze on Monday afternoon.

Police said three spraycans were placed in the toilet bowl and set alight about 4.30pm.

A similar method was used to start a fire at an amenities block at the Weinam Creek Marina.

An arsonist placed toilet paper in a toilet bowl in the female toilets and set it on fire some time between 7.30am on Tuesday and 7.30am on Wednesday.

The toilet seat was melted and the metal bowl was singed.

Police are making enquiries with a 46-year-old man found near the toilet block.

Anyone with information should contact police on 3829 4111.
