LOCAL singers Emily Moore, Natasha Robertson and Shaun Kohlman are riding a vocal high after making it to the semi-finals of Battle of the Choirs this Sunday, July 27.
Emily, 21, of Victoria Point, Natasha, 17, of Alexandra Hills and Shaun, 17, of Alexandra Hills are among 27 vocalists in Voice Works, the premier performance group of the Queensland Youth Choir for singers aged 16 to 25, which rehearses weekly at the old museum building in Brisbane.
Last Sunday they performed Grace Kelly and this week will perform Into the Night in a bid to make it to the prestigious grand final of the competition.
“This has been a great experience. It has helped the group to bond and everyone has stepped up to the bar with performance and vocally. What the competition has done is brought us into line, but we remain a fun group,” Natasha said.
As long time members of Voice Works, Natasha and Emily said the choir was a place where they could be with people who enjoyed the same things.
“It’s so much fun,” Emily said.
Besides singing, the girls are also well versed on “choralography”, a new catchword for creating actions with words.
See Voice Works perform at 7.30pm this Sunday on Channel 7.
