Interest in Tree Day just keeps on growing

FIVE-year-olds Summer Pearce, Isobella Summberville and Declan Cowsell don’t mind getting their hands dirty.

Students at St Luke’s Catholic Primary School at Capalaba, the trio will be among hundreds of pupils throughout the nation planting, mulching and watering today, July 25, as part of Schools Tree Day.

This year’s theme is Get Growing.

The special day forms part of the activities to mark National Tree Day on Sunday, July 27, which is Australia’s largest community tree-planting event.

It brings together hundreds of thousands of volunteers annually, and helps to beautify local areas, improve biodiversity, provide habitat for native wildlife and aid in the management of climate change.
