REDLAND dog owners are urged to round up their pooches for the Million Paws Walk at Cleveland this Sunday, May 18, from 9am.
The walk at GJ Walter Park (you can go 4km, 2km, or any distance) is one of many such walks being held by dog lovers across Australia to help the RSPCA.
The Decadent Doggy Club has thrown its support behind the RSPCA’s Million Paws Walk on Sunday by aiming to raise $1300 in sponsorship.
The group of about 10 people and their dogs meet regularly at the Capalaba Regional Park between 6.30am and 8am to walk their dogs.
The canines are big and small, and all the dog lovers get on well, even holding a Christmas party.
One club member, Inge Drake, raised $360 herself by collecting money near her home in Bailey Road, Capalaba.
Sunday’s Million Paws Walk starts at 10am (registration from 9am) at GJ Walter Park, Cleveland (near Toondah Harbour – enter via Middle Street, near ferry terminal).
The day is sure to be a fun-packed morning with dog agility demonstrations, wildlife group displays, pet product displays, dog washing by Aussie Pooch Mobile (all proceeds kindly donated to RSPCA Qld), food and drinks stalls, and other impromptu entertainment.
Registration on the days is: Adult – $10, children – $5. Family (2 adults/2 child) – $25, team (min 5 members) – $7 per team member. Cash only.

Apart from being a vital part of the RSPCA’S fundraising, the Million Paws Walk is a great way to get healthy and have a great time doing it.
The Million Paws Walk is the RSPCA’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
Last year over 41,000 animals passed through RSPCA Queensland shelters and financially, without the Million Paws Walk, the charity simply couldn’t have coped.
And even if you don’t have a dog, you can still come along for the walk… and the fun!
