Motorcyclist dies at roundabout

15/05/2008 5:26:00 PM
A MAKESHIFT memorial has been erected at a Cleveland roundabout in honour of a 24-year-old man who lost his life in a motorcycle crash this week.

Joshua Ian O’Hara died just after midnight on Wednesday when he lost control of his blue Kawasaki road bike at the roundabout on the corner of Shore Street West and Waterloo Street.

Police say the Wellington Point resident was not wearing a helmet and may have been speeding.

Initial examinations show Mr O’Hara was riding east when his bike clipped the left kerb, careened toward the roundabout and became airborne.

He died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.

Mr O’Hara is the second person to die on Redland roads this year.
