REDLAND City Council has signed a friendship agreement with the City of Yongin in the Republic of Korea.

The agreement acknowledges the establishment of friendly exchange and cooperation between the two cities and encourages the development of a future sister city relationship.

During their visit, the Korean delegation of 10, which included the Mayor, two city councillors, five public officials and two journalists, toured the Redland Performing Arts Centre and North Stradbroke Island.

The City of Yongin is located 40 kilometres from the capital city of Seoul. It is home to over 500, 000 people.

Eighty per cent of its land use remains in agriculture or natural forest, but the modern city of Yongin is also home to world leading technology companies such as Samsung Semiconductor, and several universities and research facilities.

Yongin is also home to ski and recreational attractions, including the Korean Folk Village and the Everland Theme Park, one of South Korea's major tourist attractions. Ten million tourists visit Yongin annually.
