THORNLANDS diver Melissa Wu won gold in the 10-metre platform this month at the Canada Grand Prix in Montreal.

Wu, 16, beat China’s world champion Wang Xin and crowd favourite Canadian Emilie Heymans to take out the gold with a high-scoring final dive.

She also won silver in the 10m synchronised with partner Bree Cole.

Teammate Sharleen Stratton, formerly of Capalaba, claimed silver in the 3m synchronised

springboard with Cole.

The girls took on the world’s best again last weekend at the USA Grand Prix at Fort Lauderdale.

Wu and Cole nabbed silver in the 10m synchronised platform while Stratton, 20, and Cole scored bronze in the 3m synchronised springboard.

Both Wu and Stratton are expected to be named on the Beijing Olympic team when it is announced at Chandler, on May 27.
